With many of us still homeschooling for the foreseeable, whether through choice or because of our children’s year groups not being in the first phase to return, I thought it would be handy to put together a useful list of websites and apps to support their learning.
My daughter is in reception and I work in early years so most of these resources are going to be aimed at Reception and Keystage 1.
Get Active Youtube Channels
Go Noodle : We love dancing around to silly songs. Go noodle is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Cosmic Kids Yoga : Great for calm time down. A lot of the videos our of well known stories with easy yoga poses to follow. Another that the whole family can get involved in.
The Body Coach: I couldn’t not mention PE with Joe. Great live workouts daily at 9am that are definitely going to get you breaking a sweat.
Educational Youtube Channels
Letters and Sounds for Home and School: These fantastic videos have been funded by the department education. New videos are uploaded daily for Reception and Year 1 children as well as those just learning to blend. We start every day with one of these videos.
BBC Teach: A broad range of Geography, History and PHSE videos for a range of ages as well as some video for Early Years children.
Educational Websites and Apps
White Rose Maths: A new activity and video explanation is added every day.
BBC Bitesize: Such a great site, broken down into year groups and topics it makes it super easy to find what you are looking for.
Topmarks: Fun online games for a range of topics and age ranges.
Phonics Play: Great, currently free, online games for developing children’s phonics skills.
Hopster: They have extended the free trial to 30 days allowing access to lots of fun educational videos and games.
Reading Eggs: Games and songs to help get your child reading.
Bee Bot app: Great for teaching basic coding.
